This year our elementary school is having its first auction. Part of the whole deal is that each class create a project to be bid on in a fancy, high-tech online part of the auction. Well, as you might imagine, there were not millions of parents battling to be the project chair for either of my girls’ classrooms. After being overwhelmed by guilt (ok, that might be a wee bit of an exaggeration) I volunteered to help (I’m not really a “chair” kind of person). Turns out, I’m glad I did. I REALLY like the idea we came up with and how it turned out, so I thought I would share it with all of you, in case one day YOU have to chair a class auction project….
Pretty cool, right? Not only did I master the whole silhouette process, but I have now learned how to spell silhouette right every time I try! What a bonus.
Next challenge: write a gushy, glowing description of it for the auction website (also not my thing). Any suggestions appreciated! In fact, will buy the best description a $5 Starbucks card. You can leave them in the comments or email them directly to me, please.
Feel free to have a peek at the step by step of how I did it. I’m pretty sure there must be an easier way as this is not my area of expertise but maybe this will be a starting point….

Enjoying your blog. My babies are now “all grown up” ( 9 & 12) and have entered the elementary/middle school world. I am delighted to see your school auction silhouette project, you are the answer to my prayers!!!! I was tasked with the solution of planning an art class project for my daughters sixth grade class to be bid on at our schools annual auction, no easy feat with 12 year old boy & girls! Are you willing to share the process of creating these amazing images? I would be very grateful as would the parents of this class who do not need another bracelet/bowl or platter with handprints on it. I think this project would be well received by all involved.
