40-Love

Yesterday I had the chance to shoot one of my favorite athletes, my dad, doing what he does best. Never really having attempted this medium (sports, not action, as I get plenty of action from all the toddlers I know) before it was quite an adventure (and I got to boss my dad around….which is always a bonus!) Mr. Fancy-pants needs an action shot for the Hall of Fame at his tennis club and I’m proud to say I got the honor of job! Here are some of my favorites of the day….keep in mind that I had to hire my 9 year old son to feed and retrieve the balls, and miraculously he is still speaking to me and his grandfather!

First the action shots….let me know if you like the color or black and white better…..

A force to be reckoned with….little bit scary, if you ask me!!  This gets my vote for the Wall of Fame….very intimidating.

Eye on the ball….nicely done….just so you know, I edited out any shot that might have looked like bad form….

I like this one for its intensity…total focus.

Stay on your toes….follow through…..

This one is for my sister….ever seen that face?? For the rest of you, that’s his “Are you crazy?” face.

And last, but not least, my personal favorite of the day….the “Jon” McEnroe.

Love it! I definitely recongize the face… I vote with the black and white. It goes with the old wooden raquet. My vote is for the intensity/focus shot.

Amazing photos. I like the black and white because of the old wooden racket and the white balls, but I like the one you picked for the wall of fame. Can you do that in black and white?

I like the color. The green and cream gave a nice soft feel. Great blog. I love the feet shot from a couple days ago.

Pizza anyone?

So we opted for pizza for dinner on Saturday night (surprised??) and walked down to our new neighborhood pizza joint (World Pies) with the whole crew. Snapped a few shots on the way, but as you may well know, getting everyone in a group of six under 14s to look your way and not be goofy is virtually impossible and not what I wanted anyway….I LOVE GOOFY!! Here’s a little guided tour of our evening…..

Girl bookends….don’t you love the boyness of the holey knees and total boy shoes?

Isn’t he just the cutest? and sweet and polite too, what more could you ask for?

This place is so yummy and different than every other pizza place….lots of international flavor….we tried (and loved) the Caribbean Jerk pizza and the curry pizza.  Just so you know, I am so not adventurous when it comes to food but absolutely devoured it all and will be adventurous next time too! I highly recommend it!!

John’s favorite part of the menu….makes you feel like you’re on vacation!

Tough decisions all around…..finally opted for the Italiano Supreme (I think??)

Can you tell how much she loves her big cousin??  Total hero worship! It was devastating when they left.

The strawberry soda was highly endorsed, all around the table.  Sorry no pizza pictures…battery died before it got to the table!   Be sure to post a message when you stop by!!

Now I want pizza!!!!!!!!! I am so highly susceptible to suggestion right now…
And the pics of the rock-star, the aquarium trip and Benito are amazing. You are uber talented and I am jealous of said talent.

Can’t remember when we did that it was such a long time ago. hope we see them soon I really miss them.

3 guesses where we went on Friday….

The past few days have been a blur of fun & excitement around here. My sister-in-law and 3 of her boys came out to visit all the way from New York….don’t know if that gives you a clue, but it means that we don’t get to see them nearly as often as we’d like!! This was a huge treat for all of us, but especially for my poor estrogen-overloaded Henry….3 great boys, all bigger than he is, here for 5 days! Woohoo! Anyway, here are a few fun shots from our trip to the aquarium….fun to try to get decent shots in the weirdly lit inside…a little grainy from shooting at such a high ISO….see for yourself……enjoy!

The whole gang

So brave!! I’m so not a "touch pool" kinda girl.

The remodel of the Seattle Aquarium is pretty cool.

It was Octopus Week at the aquarium…and they were a bit aggressive…..

Everybody (well, almost everybody…hi Willy!) checking out the fish swimming overhead…cool blue light filtering through the glass above

My handsome guys

Love the blue light picture! Especially Henry’s eyes. Have to say the man eating (or John eating) octopus is a close second, though.

It’s Wednesday and you know what that means……

Heeeere’s Benbino…..just a little sneak for his mom to make her smile while she’s at work today! Enjoy!!

Lynnie loves making you giggle….it’s the best sound in the world!!

Just doing a little laundry

ahhh, the dreaded tummy time

These really make my day! Thanks Judith!

The Much Anticipated Jam Session

Well, much anticipated by me anyway!! This is our Rock Star friend of the cool valentine card (see previous post). He was kind enough to allow me to take a few pictures of him rockin’ out today! Must say that when I first saw the photos I was kinda disappointed….didn’t really like what I was seeing….not very rock star-ish feeling….but that was when they were still in color. There was all this gorgeous sunlight glowing on him, softly….very angelic and sweet, but so not what I was going for. After a little messing around with my new favorite software (Photoshop Lightroom) I ended up with these, which I think will do nicely for now!  Brace yourselves though, it was too hard to pick just a few…so you might want to get yourselves a nice, warm beverage and some kind of snack to get you all the way through to the end.

A little different perspective on the whole thing…..

Total concentration

Love all the action in this one

Love seeing his hands on his guitar…

He’s singing some very intense Dave Matthews song to me….ahh, the angry rock star face….he has it perfected!

and look who snuck in his own turn….isn’t he just a cherub with those big eyes and soft, round cheeks….I could just snuggle this kid all day…and you should hear all the funny things he is saying….oh to be almost 2 again. Thanks for the fun times this morning guys….I’m so glad I can always count on you for a laugh (and a little quality adult conversation!!).

These are fantastic Judith. Love all the different angles and the black and white gives it just the right amount of edginess. Well done!
