The Snow Beast { Mine }

{Pssst….have a look around and see if you can find any of the new fancies that I have added to the blog.  Hint: check the sidebar and the footer of each post.  This is one of the things I have been up to while snowed in.}

So winter has finally made it to our neighborhood and I mean that pretty literally.  Once you drive down our big hill there is no snow in sight, but up here, we are in a winter wonderland.  Today will be day 3 that the kids are home from school (yes, I know Monday doesn’t really count because it was a holiday, but school would have been cancelled anyway) and yes, they are thrilled BUT they are not the happiest ones in our house.

The snow beast is beside herself with glee.  She is a true mountain dog and the snow makes her giddy.  (My favorite is the 3rd in the series where she is completely airborn.  And yes, I was lucky to get these without being completely leveled…she’s big and she’s fast when she wants to be.)

She also enjoys trying to catch snowballs.  Pretty sure this is the only time you will EVER see her do something like this.  She does not exert this kind of effort for some dumb old tennis ball.

I did also allow the children outside but you will notice one of them is conspicuously absent.  Hmpf.  I am hoping to force him out of his room and into the snow today while my camera is out, so there may be more snow photos coming your way soon.  (These will be a repeat for any of you facebook type people).

Making it snow.

Can you see the snowball flying toward my head?

We went down in the woods behind our house.  It is absolutely gorgeous but I was really surprised at how dim it was down there.  Am hoping that today will bring a brighter snowy day….those are my absolute favorite for shooting, all that gorgeous reflecting light makes everyone all glowy and gorgeous (especially flattering for the eyes and skin).  In fact one day I would LOVE to do a family session in the snow (my inspiration, thanks Michelle!) think hats (which I adore) and coats and scarves and lots of goofing around…let me know if that sounds fun to you and IF you can make it up our hill today!

You don’t think that my girls are done having me follow them around with the camera, do you?  There was some major bartering going on….”you can take 5 more pictures but then you have to have a snowball fight”….things like that.

What a goof!

Fingers crossed he gets a snow day today too!

Fingers doubly crossed this is our last snow day as:

  1. We are running out of food and since I can’t make it down our hill to the grocery store, I’m not sure if Amazon Fresh will be willing to try to make it up the hill to our house.
  2. We are now eating in to our summer vacation (though truthfully we are ditching out early anyway, it just means we will be missing more school days, which none of my kids like to do).
