Victory Dance

A little post-race documentation of our awesomeness….check out our shiny medals (I generally let my kids believe that getting a medal means I won the race.) and our super fancy race shirts.  We belong to the exclusive “Girls Gone Running” club….best part of the shirt = it says “run like a girl” on it.  Highlight of the race = we both finished with personal best times.  Reminder that we are not elite athletes = watching the full marathon winner sprint across the finish line about 10 – 15 minutes after we finished the half.  Crazy fast.

My running partner/sister has officially registered to run a FULL marathon in October (Hooray her!!) and because I am weak and am easily swayed by peer pressure (and possibly inspired by a little friendly sibling rivalry) I have agreed to start training with her.  No commitment on my part yet as I am assessing the current strength of my knees (and the status of my calendar).  Fall is not notoriously the best time of year for me to take on something extra (especially not something that involves going for 3 hour runs on the weekend)….I guess that means it is time to start thinking about scheduling holiday sessions!!

Two of the original Girls Gone Running.  Congratulations to all the GGR that finished the race…especially to the first time half marathon runners!  We’ll be back next year!
